Craving a healthy meal without sacrificing flavour? Discover the secrets to delicious, guilt-free eating here!

When it comes to food, it's natural to think about the combination of colour, flavour and taste. How would the food taste if it was cooked with no oil, no sugar and just a little salt?

Culinary class instructor, Lim Seok Hoon

The use of cooking oil, sauces, sugar, and salt in the kitchen is drastically reduced, only salt can be used. At first, I wondered, “How is that possible?” But after trying this cooking method myself, I was amazed by the results. My high blood pressure completely improved, proving that this healthy eating approach can truly enhance well-being.

Located at Ang Mo Kio Block 121, Tzu Chi Food Farmacy promotes the concept of food as medicine and offers cooking classes to teach people how to prepare wholefoods. Participants can even bring home the food after cooking.

"Prevention is better than cure" is the guiding principle at Tzu Chi Food Farmacy. Our aim is to help people eat healthily and without burden, so chronic diseases stay at bay. By offering cooking classes, we empower participants to learn how to prepare healthier meals at home and share nutritious food with their loved ones.

Our approach uses wholefoods, cooked with no oil, no sugar, and minimal salt. Each dish is both flavourful and nutritious, and participants gain hands-on experience with a variety of ingredients as they cook.

I’m very happy to see so many students together in the class; it brought back fond memories of my own school days, with a teacher guiding us. I tried cooking rice without oil for the first time, and it tasted surprisingly good. The teacher’s stew rice, which used ingredients of five colours, was not only visually appealing but also beneficial for the heart and lungs.

There’s so much to gain here. Some are knowledge I’d never heard before. Moving forward, I plan to use this method to cook for myself. Transform my diet to be less greasy and much healthier. That’s exactly what I’m aiming for.
